Jeffrey H. Green, MD
Jeffrey Green, MD

Jeffrey H. Green, M.D. is a psychiatrist skilled both in the use of psychotherapy and in the use of psychotropic medications. Dr. Green has been treating adults and adolescents in the Princeton community since 1986. Knowing the potential benefits of the various treatment modalities as well as being realistic about treatment limitations, Dr. Green has been able to render treatment that is both rational and compassionate to his patients for more than three decades. His work is equally divided between “talk therapies” (psychodynamic, cognitive, and supportive) and medication management. Dr. Green views treatment as a partnership between physician and patient with shared responsibility for a successful outcome.

Dr. Green was born in 1956 and grew up in the Philadelphia area. He graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1978, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with a Bachelor of Science degree in natural sciences. Dr. Green received his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1982, where he also received the Sandoz Award in recognition of superior academic achievement and contribution to health care. He then completed his specialty training at The Pennsylvania Hospital and The Psychiatric Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital, where he received the National Psychiatric Endowment Fund’s Laughlin Award for Merit. Dr. Green received his Board Certification from The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 1987.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Green has served as the psychiatric consultant to several community agencies and as a board examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Green is a Clinical Assistant Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry of UMDNJ-The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and he received their volunteer faculty teaching award in 2005. Dr. Green is also an accomplished speaker and has lectured on a national level on the subject of selecting an antidepressant based on patient preferences for side effect profiles.

In recent years, Dr. Green has increasingly incorporated both mindfulness and spirituality into his psychotherapeutic work.
